DEADLINE 3/24/24: Detroit Institute of Arts seeks submissions for 3rd annual Wayne County High School Art Exhibition

Wayne County High School students have an opportunity to have artwork displayed at the DIA this summer

DETROIT – The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) recently announced a call for submissions for their 2024 Wayne County High School Art Exhibition. High school students attending public or private schools in Wayne County have until March 24, 2024, to submit their artwork for consideration. The selected works will be displayed at the DIA from June 21, 2024 – July 21, 2024.

“The Wayne County High School Art Exhibition is one of my favorite events of the year. We are pleased to continue our partnership with the Detroit Institute of Arts, as it provides an invaluable opportunity to highlight the talent of high school artists across Wayne County," said Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans. “I cannot help but be inspired by these gifted young people. We must support students and their passions; creativity and art education play a key role in helping students thrive in other academic areas. Also, they lead to greater exposure and they help communities thrive, as art connects us. There’s still time to submit pieces for consideration, and I want to encourage students to submit them before the upcoming deadline. I cannot wait to see this year’s exhibition.”

In 2023, Wayne County high school artists submitted 398 pieces of art for consideration. After being juried by a team from the DIA’s Education Programs Department, 84 works were selected.

“We are so pleased for the opportunity to highlight the artistic talent of Wayne County High School Students for a third year through this special exhibition,” said Julie McFarland, executive director of Public Affairs and Community Engagement for the DIA. “We welcome their families, friends and all of our Tri-County residents to find inspiration through the work of these artists and the DIA’s world-class collection.”

Like previous years, 70 - 80 works will be selected and showcased.
